DropHaul vs PJR Software

PJR Software charges per user, so cost grows with every driver you add. DropHaul’s flat tiers have no per-seat fees, plus automatic customer messaging that PJR does not document.

How PJR and DropHaul differ

PJR Software (Porta-John Rental Software) is a portable restroom platform with barcode equipment tracking, truck-aware routing, and rental-style billing. It prices per user on top of an unpublished base fee. DropHaul uses flat tiers with no per-seat fees and adds AutoShare customer updates, two-way texting, telematics, and an official MCP server, none of which PJR documents.

Choose PJR if

Small teams with few users who want rental-style billing and barcode equipment tracking.

  • You have one or two users and the per-user math works out lower.
  • You need contract and progressive billing exactly as PJR models it.

Choose DropHaul if

Portable sanitation operators who want to see the price up front, run crews from a native app that works offline, and keep customers updated without office typing.

  • You run several drivers and want one flat price as you grow.
  • You want automatic customer texts and a two-way inbox included.
  • You want telematics, fuel cards, or AI assistants connected to your data.

What PJR does well

  • Published per-user pricing with no contract and no onboarding fee.
  • Barcode and QR equipment tracking without special hardware.
  • Truck-type and matrix routing with dynamic ETAs.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, batch, pause, and contract billing from its rental software roots.

Why operators switch to DropHaul

No per-seat fees
PJR adds $45 a month for every mobile user and $65 for every admin. DropHaul tiers are flat with no per-seat fees, so adding a driver does not add a line to your software bill.
Customers updated automatically
AutoShare texts and emails customers across 13 lifecycle events, from quote sent to payment received. PJR does not document automated customer notifications.
Two-way chat with every customer
Replies to AutoShare texts and emails thread back into one DropHaul chat with delivery receipts. Two-way texting is not documented by PJR.
Fleet data and AI access
DropHaul connects telematics and fuel cards, and ships an official MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. PJR does not document either.

AutoShare tells customers before they call

Customers get a text or email when their service is scheduled, when the driver is on the way, when the job is done, and when the invoice goes out. Your office stops fielding “is the unit coming?” calls, and you choose how each customer hears from you. Included on Pro, Fleet, and Enterprise plans.

Most owners move over on their own with the built-in importer. If you’d rather hand it off, Switch & Setup is our hands-on migration: we bring your data over, set DropHaul up the way you run, and train your crew at a competitive rate, usually in a day to a few weeks.

We work from Excel, Google Sheets, CSV and TSV exports, PDF route sheets and invoices, Desktop software, or another dispatch tool.

  1. Pickup. We collect what you have

Spreadsheets, exports from your current software, even PDF route sheets. Messy is fine.

  2. Service. We set DropHaul up

Customers, sites, units, and jobs land in the right fields, and DropHaul is configured around how you already run.

  3. Drop. Your crew goes live

We walk the office and drivers through it, then review your first routes with you.

What Switch & Setup covers

Migration
Customers, contacts, sites, units, trucks, jobs, and open invoices moved over and checked for duplicates and gaps.
Configuration
Yards, trucks, service schedules, pricing, and AutoShare set up to match how your operation works today.
Training
Your office learns dispatch and billing; your drivers learn the iPhone app they will carry every day.
Go-live support
We plan the cutover with you and review the first routes, with an on-site setup day available.

Doing it yourself

The importer reads PDF, CSV, TSV, and Excel. Match columns, fix flagged rows, review, and import across 12 record types, from customers, contacts, job sites, units to fuel entries.
