# AutoShare: Automatic Customer Updates for Portable Sanitation

_Source: https://www.drophaul.app/features/autoshare_

AutoShare is DropHaul's automatic customer update system. When something happens on a job, such as a service being scheduled, a driver heading out, a stop being completed, or an invoice being paid, AutoShare texts or emails the customer for you. It covers 13 events across quotes, jobs, invoices, payments, and unit swaps, and each event can be set to Off, Email, SMS, or SMS + Email.

AutoShare is included on Pro, Fleet, and Enterprise plans. Starter does not include customer-facing SMS or email sending.

## How it works

Updates fire from the actions your team already takes. Scheduling or moving a job sends the scheduled or rescheduled update. A driver tapping en route, arrived, or complete in the DropHaul app sends those updates. Sending a quote or invoice, recording a payment, issuing a refund, or scheduling a unit swap sends the matching update. Nobody in the office types a status message.

Texts come from your own registered business number. Emails carry your company name. Every update also posts to the customer's chat in DropHaul as an event card, and customer replies thread back underneath it.

## The 13 AutoShare events and their defaults

| Group | Event | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Quotes | Quote sent | SMS + Email |
| Quotes | Quote expiring | Off |
| Service & jobs | Service scheduled | SMS + Email |
| Service & jobs | Service rescheduled | SMS + Email |
| Service & jobs | Driver en route | SMS + Email |
| Service & jobs | Driver arrived | Off |
| Service & jobs | Service completed | SMS + Email |
| Service & jobs | Service cancelled | SMS + Email |
| Invoices | Invoice sent | SMS + Email |
| Invoices | Invoice overdue | SMS + Email |
| Invoices | Payment received | SMS + Email |
| Payments | Payment refunded | SMS + Email |
| Service updates | Unit swap scheduled | SMS + Email |

## Four layers of control

1. **Company defaults:** pick Off, Email, SMS, or both for each event once. Every customer inherits it.
2. **Customer overrides:** override any event for one customer, for example texts only for a builder and email only for an HOA.
3. **Contact channels:** within one customer, text the site supervisor and email the accounts payable inbox.
4. **Chat toggles:** mute a whole group, such as invoices, for a single conversation.

Customer overrides replace company defaults, and contact and chat settings only narrow who receives each update. Customers never see a settings page; your office manages everything.

## Example messages

- Service scheduled: "Rivera Sanitation: Hi Dana, your service is scheduled for Wed, Oct 28 at Oakridge Phase 2."
- Driver en route: "Rivera Sanitation: Hi Dana, Marcus is on the way to Oakridge Phase 2 and expects to arrive 8:00–8:30 AM."
- Service completed: "Rivera Sanitation: Hi Dana, your service at Oakridge Phase 2 is complete."
- Invoice sent: "Rivera Sanitation: Hi Dana, invoice INV-1047 for $412.00 is ready."
- Payment received: "Rivera Sanitation: Hi Dana, we received your payment of $412.00 for invoice INV-1047. Thank you."

## AutoShare vs typical "on my way" texts

| | Typical field service app | DropHaul AutoShare |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Events covered | On my way, job done | 13, quote to refund |
| Channel per event | One global setting | Off, Email, SMS, or both |
| Per-customer rules | Rarely | Customer, contact, and chat |
| Replies | Separate inbox or none | Threaded under the update |
| Delivery proof | Sent or failed | Delivery receipts; opens and clicks for email |

## Limits and compliance

There are no per-message fees. Pro includes 750 texts and 1,500 emails per day; Fleet includes 2,500 texts and 5,000 emails per day; Enterprise capacity is set by contract. Texts honor STOP and HELP keywords, opted-out recipients are skipped automatically, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

## White-label link previews add-on

With the white-label link previews add-on, links you share for quotes, invoices, and service records preview with your logo, name, banner, and brand color instead of the DropHaul card. It costs $49 per month or $490 per year on Starter, Pro, and Fleet, and is included on Enterprise.

## FAQ

**Which DropHaul plans include AutoShare?** Pro, Fleet, and Enterprise. Free and Starter do not include customer-facing SMS or email sending.

**Can I turn AutoShare off for one customer?** Yes. Each event can be overridden per customer, each contact can receive texts, emails, or both, and a whole group of updates can be muted for a single conversation.

**Can customers reply?** Yes. Replies thread back into the customer's chat in DropHaul, next to the update that prompted them.

**How is AutoShare different from broadcasts?** AutoShare sends one customer the right update when something happens on their job. Broadcasts send one message to many people at once.
